The Twelve Primordial Master

On the panel situated on the west side behind the throne appear the most important buddhas of Dzogchen or the Great Perfection: Kuntusangpo (Skt. Samantabhadra), considered the supreme source of the teaching and the primordial buddha; Dorje Sempa (Skt. Vajrasattva), source of diverse tantric deities; and the Twelve Primordial Masters, among whom on the extreme right of the panel is the buddha of our era, Shakyamuni. On the extreme left is another Buddha of our era, Shenrab Miwoche, the founder of Bön, the pre-Buddhist tradition of Tibet, in which the Dzogchen teaching also flourished. The western panel was painted by the celebrated spiritual master and artist Drugu Choegyal Rinpoche From “The Temple of the Great Contemplation. The Gönpa of Merigar”
